Pam Helland

Pastoral Counselor

Pam and her family moved to Columbia in 2008 after serving in Chad, Africa and France. Prior to that, they made their home in Minnesota. She and her husband, Larry, have been married for over 35 years and have five children who live here in Columbia. She and Larry have been at Church of the Apostles since 2015.

In 2018, Pam completed her Master’s Degree in Ministry and Pastoral Care at CIU. She is trained in premarital and marital counseling through Prepare/Enrich. She is also trained in level one of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) through the Albert Ellis Institute.

To bring healing to a hurting world by teaching others how to struggle well in adversity is one of her passions. The other passion, is to help individuals try to grasp the reality of God with us (Emmanuel) in their lives. Pam works this out in her ministry by helping others walk through life by grappling with issues such as grief and loss, depression, anger, doubts, and life’s uncertainties. In addition to counseling at Apostles, Pam debriefs missionaries from various organizations.

In her free time, Pam enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also likes to read, listen to music, play board games, setting puzzles, and working in the garden with Larry.
