(the Revd) Guy Rainsford

Missionary-in-Residence

My great grandfather’s autobiography is entitled, The Story of a Varied Life. Mine, like all of ours, has been varied and God organized.

My wife, Susan and I have 8 children and 8 grandchildren. After college I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tchad and Niger. Returning to the States after an accident in Niger, I did a Masters at Cornell and then an Mdiv at Sewanee.

I was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1987 and served churches in upper state NY, rural SD, and Chattanooga. As the rector in SD, I got saved reading the Bible while preparing for a Confirmation class.

I have been “on staff” at Apostles since joining the AMIA in 2007. We are SIM missionaries in Kenya working with an unreached Muslim tribe. We praise God for this season in Columbia where we can be involved in the life of Apostles. We love reading, going for walks and the outdoors. My favorite author is John Buchan.
