A Word from Eric

To my new family and friends at Church of the Apostles,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

My family and I are overjoyed that the Lord is bringing us together for this next season of life and ministry. We are excited to be a part of what the Holy Spirit is doing at Church of the Apostles. You have been in my prayers for the past two years. I know your journey has been one of waiting expectantly and trusting in the Lord’s faithfulness. The calling to be your next pastor, rector, and dean is an honor and privilege for which I am truly grateful. It is a holy and sacred trust that I humbly receive.

Jesus is our Good Shepherd who is always with us and always guiding us. Because of that great truth, I have an eager expectation that the Lord has wonderful things in store for us. You have always been a church that values the beauty of worship, that seeks to exalt Jesus, that values deep spiritual formation and prayer. I’m excited to join you in that work as we come together to share the good news of Jesus to the community around us.

Throughout the discernment process, the Search Committee and Vestry showed Laura and me such gracious hospitality. The time we spent together was both joyful and life-giving for us. We are so thankful for their kindness and friendship. At the same time, we are excited to get to know the wider community. I can’t wait to introduce my family to you. Know that my heart is already with you and for you!

Please be in prayer for us as we seek to finish our time in Murrells Inlet well. We have many goodbyes to say and several details to attend to before we can enter fully into the community at Church of the Apostles. Pray that the Lord would show His favor on all aspects of our transition. Know that you are continually in my prayers. I pray that the Lord would pour out His blessings and His grace upon you in abundant ways.

Again, I’m excited for what the Lord has in store for us and can’t wait to join you. As we begin our journey together, may the Lord give us grace to keep our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

Peace to you!
